ScubaCore: A Quarterly DVD Magazine for scuba divers and their friends. Four times a year, we will be releasing a DVD with over two hours of video content, with dive stories from around the globe. In addition, we’ll be covering various news items that are of interest to divers. Our host, Anat Grant, will take you around the globe in search of fine diving, good food and a bit of adventure. Anat will also have some very special guests sharing their thoughts and exploits in diving.
Winter 2004 includes:
Red Skies at Night
The Cuan Law is a sailboat, a rarity amongst liveaboard dive boats. We dive the signature sites in the British Virgin Islands including the wrecks of the RMS Rhone and the Chikuzen, and travel to Sombrero, the “secret island”. Bonus features show the island of Tortola and the Sugar Mill Hotel.
Mantas and Dolphins and Whale Sharks…Oh My!
The SOLMAR V takes us to the wild Eastern Pacific islands of Socorro and San Benedicto, where cleaning stations attract Pacific Giant Mantas. We also visit Roca Partida and see dolphins, whale sharks and hammerheads, all in the same dive! Extras include the Solmar Suites and topside fun in Cabo San Lucas.
Betel Nut Stories on the Mnuw
A pirate ship in the harbor, stone money, and Yapese cultural traditions intermix with a healthy dose of underwater adventure. Yap is known for its manta rays, but we dig a little deeper and discover magnificent hard coral reefs, walls and a macro site that defies description.
Catch the Spirit in Tobago
We visit the Peter Hughes Wind Dancer on her newest route in Tobago. The reefs offer colorful encrusting sponges, abundant hard and soft corals, and the world’s largest brain coral! Join us as we dive around the entire island and see what it means to “go with the flow” in Tobago.
There are also reports on David Fleetham’s underwater photography, a visit with John Ellerbrock from Gates Underwater Housings; and short previews of upcoming issues.
Customer Review: Great shows!
I really enjoyed watching the underwater footage, and the host isn’t bad either. THe shows gave my wife and I the inspiration to visit the mantas of Socorro this year, so we’re saving our pennies! It was like getting 4 half hour TV programs, a la Travel Channell, but definitely geard towards divers, and the host is obviously a good diver, herunderwater footage is awesome. I’d recommend this to anyone who is a scuba diver, and for people who just love the ocean. Looking forward to issue 2! The production on this DVD is nice, it’s professionally done and nicely packaged, the booklet is a mini magazine by itself, with info and stories by the publisher, the host and the marine naturalist person. My only complaint is that this show isn’t on cable!
